Some films earn their place in cinema history for their writing, their direction, their performances. And then there are the films that earn it for one unforgettable scene. This list is for both, so here are five films that knew exactly how to deliver a striptease.
1. From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
This film is technically a crime thriller that turns into a vampire movie — but none of that matters because Salma Hayek’s snake dance as Santanico Pandemonium is one of the most memorable scenes in cinema history. You can skip the rest and just watch that scene on repeat. Streaming on: Tubi, Prime Video

2. Hustlers (2019)
Based on a true story, a crew of savvy strip club dancers turn the tables on their Wall Street clients in the most satisfying way possible. Usually I avoid all things Jlo but in this movie Lopez gives the performance of her career and manages not to ruin the movie in the process. So I would say it is worth the watch. Streaming on: Prime Video, Hulu

3. Showgirls (1995)
So bad it’s good. Nomi Malone arrives in Las Vegas with nothing but ambition and a suitcase and claws her way to the top of the showgirl world. Campy, chaotic, and completely unhinged — and that’s exactly why we love it. Streaming on: Tubi, Pluto TV

4. Cabaret (1972)
Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles performing in a Weimar-era Berlin cabaret while the world falls apart around her. The dancing is fun to watch, the politics are sharp, and “Mein Herr” is still one of the greatest musical numbers ever put on film. Streaming on: Tubi

5. The Player’s Club (1998)
LisaRaye McCoy’s breakout role as Diamond, a single mother who starts dancing to pay her way through college and quickly learns the game has rules nobody told her about. Ice Cube directs with surprising sensitivity, LisaRaye is magnetic in it, and the movie gives us one of my favorite quotes “Make the money. Don’t let it make you.”. Streaming on: Youtube, Prime Video

That’s your list. Whether you’re here for the artistry, the chaos, or just Salma Hayek with a snake — there’s something on here for you. Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite and what I missed.
