BINGE OR SKIP: STEAL

Why is no one talking about this show?

Steal is a series on Amazon Prime following Zara, a low-level office worker at a pension management company who gets caught up in a dangerous heist by an armed gang. But the longer you watch, the more you realize she may not be as innocent as she appears — and may have had a much bigger role in the heist than she’s letting on.

A young woman in a blue shirt stands against a large window, looking thoughtfully outside, with skyscrapers reflected in the glass.

Binge or Skip? Binge — and here’s why.

The show is genuinely unpredictable. Just when you think it’s heading in one direction it pivots, and it kept my attention throughout without ever feeling like it was cheating to get there.

Sophie Turner, who plays Zara, delivers. We watched her grow up on Game of Thrones and child actors don’t always transition well into adult roles. I wasn’t her biggest fan in X-Men but she found something real in this role — particularly in her scenes with her mother, where you understand exactly why someone with a steady job in this economy would take a risk like this.

Three individuals looking concerned, set against a city skyline backdrop. The woman in the center wears a red hoodie, while the others are in formal and casual attire. A £20 note is visible in the foreground.

And the ending works. Heist shows notoriously struggle with endings — too predictable or too random. This one lands somewhere in the middle in the best way possible.

Rating: 8.2/10. Stream it on Amazon Prime.
