Nothing I love more in a movie than a good bitch. A woman who is not afraid to be disliked, to wield power and wield it well. Is she always right? No. But we need more imperfect women in cinema. So here are 10 movies for vixens who love a good bitch, in no particular order.

1. Two Can Play That Game

Two Can Play That Game follows Shante, a confident woman who thinks she has the perfect playbook for keeping her man. Meanwhile Conny, a bitchy rival, decides she wants him for herself. Conny does not end up stealing Keith but with only a few minutes of screen time she managed to steal every bit of our attention. With that red power suit, that conning smile and snappy comebacks, she proves that you don’t have to be the main character to steal the show.

2. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009)

The Swedish version with Noomi Rapace, not the American remake. Lisbeth is a vengeful woman who knew exactly where to direct her anger, straight at the people who actually deserved it. My kind of woman.

3. Bad Teacher

Lazy, spoiled, and completely unbothered. Elizabeth returns to a teaching job she hates after her wealthy ex dumps her, immediately starts looking for the next rich man, and does not apologize for a single moment of it. One of Cameron Diaz’s best performances and criminally underrated.

4. Boomerang

Nobody does bitch like Robin Givens. Boomerang is about a smooth talking executive who meets his match in his co-worker Jacqueline, a woman who plays the game better than he does. Jacqueline breaks Marcus’s heart and shows him there are levels to this game by giving him a taste of his own medicine and never once apologizing for it. A masterclass.

5. The Devil Wears Prada

To have a bitch list without Miranda Priestly is downright criminal. Miranda reminds us that it is perfectly acceptable for women to wield power. Is it okay to abuse it? Yes. Yes it is. Next.

6. The Craft

Nancy is a true leader who encourages her coven to explore their power and their spirituality. Did she get a little drunk on that power? Sure. But who among us has not gotten a little carried away. Give her some grace.

7. Dangerous Liaisons

The Marquise de Merteuil is always three steps ahead, always strategizing, always the most dangerous person in any room she walks into. At a time when women were expected to be quiet and decorative, she chose chaos and won most of the time. Her downfall is her jealousy of other women, which is a lesson in itself. Still an iconic bitch.

8. King Of Boys

King of Boys is a thriller about a woman who has spent decades building power in a world that was never designed to give it to her, and what happens when the men around her decide they want it back. Sola Sobowale’s and Toni tones (who plays her younger self) compelling performances as Eniola the head bitch in charge was very entertaining to watch. So this movie had to be on the list.

9. Jawbreaker

Before there was Regina George there was Courtney Shayne, the original HBIC who ruled her high school with an iron fist. Courtney is one of the most underrated bitches in cinema and she carried that entire movie on her back.

10. Mean Girls

Finishing with the one and only Regina George. Shallow, self absorbed, and completely in control until she is not. But my favorite thing about Regina is her redemption arc. That same ruthless energy, redirected into athletics. She did not change. She just finally found the right arena.
